A Little Com'Art'ary in the studio with 'Dukes'

Welcome to my drafting table on this rainy Northern Illinois April 2020 spring day. I think we are in a quarantine although my life as an artist is normally sequestered in the studio - nothing new here! I love spring storms which in turn creates that earthy worm smell! Spring storms create the catalyst for flowers to peek their heads out of the dirt to stretch and wake up to the warm sun & and the promise of glorious color to brighten the season. But....back to the creative fun that breaks up this dreary but productive day.

Blogging sure feels like n'art'cissistic behavior but frankly I don't want this to be all about me. I'm in my studio all day, I'm in my own head all day - I want others to join in for com'art'ary. I'd like to share my techniques & hopefully one day delve into tutorials and such. I am encouraging engagement with you so don't be shy - ask any & all questions about anything you wish (horses, drawing, painting) - I'm game for it all. Hopefully, I will have something to contribute to your advancement in creating gorgeous artwork and gain myself as well.

Today I want to introduce you to 'Dukes', one adorable King Charles Spaniel Mix with the character of a world traveler well versed in drink & verbiage. We've been discussing life together here for a few days now, he's quite particular about his hair for sure.

Materials Used: I am completing this Petrait (pet portrait) with Faber Polychromos & Caran D'Ache Colored Pencils on Clairfontaine white Pastelmat. I don't have special studio equipment for video creation so please be patient - I'll get this looking pro soon.

Please join me, I am looking forward to getting to know you & your artwork!!
